Fishing FAQ

  • Do I need a fishing License?

No, Fillet and Release Fishing Charter Carries a blanket fishing license as well as Federal and State licenses and Permits.

  • How many people are allowed per trip?

         We have OUPV 6-pack licenses.

  • Is fish cleaning provided?

Yes, we provide fish cleaning and it’s an additional charge on Bottom and Gulf Stream trips.

  •  What if our group is larger than 6?

We will try to arrange another boat to accommodate your group.

  • What do I need to bring or wear?

It’s best to wear rubber-soled shoes so they will help keep you firm and steady. You can wear layered clothing because the mornings are cool and the ride home can be cool as well. Definitely bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. We will have water on the boat but you are welcome to bring 1 cooler 65 quart or less with drinks and snacks. We prefer no glass.

  • What if we need to cancel our trip?

You can no longer cancel a trip 14 days prior to your scheduled trip. No-shows will be charged 50% of the price of the trip. You are considered a no-show if you are not at the boat an hour after your scheduled leave time. If your trip is canceled by the Captain due to weather we can reschedule. We accept cash and all major credit cards. There is a 3.5% convenience fee for credit card purchases.

  • What time do we need to be on the boat for our trip?

First, we want to thank you for choosing Fillet and Release Fishing Charter. We truly appreciate you trusting in us.

To confirm the departure times, our morning half-day leaves at 7:00 am, afternoon leaves at 11:30, and all other trips leave at 6:00 am. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before we depart. We will introduce ourselves and go over some instructions.

  • Where is your boat located?

Our marina is under construction and our temporary address is 110 Carol Winner Dr slip #9. We are across from Island Burger and Bites and directly behind the empty-for-sale restaurant. We are the first boat when you pull into the parking lot ( The Green Boat) you can’t miss us! If you can’t find us still call 1-910-368-1400. There is a small parking lot in front of the marina but all parking lots are pay to park now, unfortunately.
